Lowlands Festival Tickets to Increase in Price Again: Director Announces 325 Euro Price Tag

Tickets for the Lowlands festival will become more expensive again this year. The price for a ticket this year will be “towards 325 euros”, festival director Eric van Eerdenburg said in conversation with BNR on Tuesday.

“It is inevitable that the price will go up again,” says Van Eerdenburg. He cites “the pressure from artist prices” as the reason for the price increase. But it is also “due to the recent wage hit and the scarcity of materials”, the director explains. In 2018, a ticket cost less than 200 euros.

He emphasizes that prices at all major music festivals have increased in recent years. “If you sell out in 14 minutes, the market will say: maybe it could have been more,” says Van Eerdenburg. “However, I do not want to participate in that. I am very aware of the financial situation that many people are in. It is a festival that must be and remain accessible to the primary target group. These are the young people who are starting on the labor market and students.”

There was also a price increase last year. A ticket then cost 300 euros. Yet all 60,000 tickets were sold out within fifteen minutes, Van Eerdenburg told NU.nl.
