Portuguese driver recovered 17 minutes from the leader of the classification, but remains in seventh place
With Filipe Palmeiro as navigator, João Ferreira won this Tuesday the fourth stage of the Dakar 2024 rally, in the SSV (light vehicles) category, having covered the 299 kilometers in 3:13.09 hours.
Thus, the Portuguese driver beat the Saudi Yasir Seaidan (MMP), who finished second at 2.48 minutes, and the Frenchman Xavier de Soultrait (Bardahl), who did not go beyond 3rd place, 4.54 minutes behind the Portuguese driver.
«We did a clean stage free of errors and, above all, made us recover a lot of time for our teammate in South Racing and leader of the General SSV, [o espanhol] Gerard Farrés Guell. We are aware of our progress and we know that we cannot make mistakes until the end if we want to dream of a good result in this Dakar. Work and commitment will be the watchwords over the next few days», stressed the Portuguese player at the end of the race.
With this result, the Leiria-born driver gained 17 minutes from the leader of the SSV classification, Farrés Guell, but maintains seventh position, at 31.09m.
This is the 42nd triumph in João Ferreira’s Dakar career, but with co-driver Filipe Palmeiro it is only the second. The first took place in the last edition, when they won the ninth stage in 2023.
