Learning from specialists and managers from business
The degree programs at FHWien der WKW score points with their practical relevance. Two thirds of the teachers are specialists and managers from business. “We have practitioners in the lecture hall – managers, project managers, experts, self-employed people. Our students benefit from the experience they gain in their careers,” explains Michael Heritsch, Managing Director of the FHWien der WKW. All bachelor’s degree programs offer basic business training, and all master’s degree programs prepare you for management tasks – regardless of the subject area. “Digital transformation also takes up a lot of space in all degree programs. Because it is profoundly changing every professional field,” continues Heritsch.
This is how you get a place to study at the FHWien der WKW
The path to one of the coveted study places begins in the FHWien der WKW’s digital application portal: Interested parties can register and apply there. If the entry requirements for a course of study are met, applicants can choose a date for the IT-supported entrance test. This test will take place online in April 2024; Applicants do not have to come to the FH for this. Once this hurdle has been overcome, further steps follow, depending on the chosen course of study, such as an admission interview, an assessment center or a presentation.
Study alongside your job
More and more working people are starting to study alongside their job because a university degree improves career prospects. The FHWien der WKW addresses the needs of this growing group and offers several bachelor’s degree programs both full-time and part-time. Other bachelor’s degree programs and all master’s degree programs are only offered part-time. “In this way, we also give working people the opportunity to study at a university of applied sciences,” emphasizes FHWien managing director Michael Heritsch.
New master’s program in Digital Technology & Innovation
The part-time Master’s degree program in Digital Technology & Innovation is being offered for the first time. This technical, interdisciplinary course imparts in-depth skills in digital technology and prepares students for the management of innovation projects. Thanks to 60 percent online teaching, the practical course of study can be easily combined with work and private life. It is scheduled to start in autumn 2024 (subject to accreditation by AQ Austria).
