On Tuesday, World Health Organization officials expressed their concern about the collapse of hospitals in the southern Gaza Strip, as fighting intensified around the city of Khan Yunis, with many medical personnel and patients fleeing for their lives.
“So what we’re seeing raises real concern for a lot of hospitals,” said Sean Casey, coordinator of the World Health Organization’s emergency medical teams in Gaza.
He added: “We are witnessing the collapse of the health system at a very rapid pace,” noting that an estimated 600 patients fled one of the facilities.
A report reveals the number of journalists killed since the outbreak of the Gaza war
At least 79 journalists have been killed since the war between Israel and Hamas militants began on October 7, according to the latest count released by the Committee to Protect Journalists on Monday.
On the other hand, the Hamas Ministry of Health announced that the death toll from the Israeli bombing on the Gaza Strip had risen to 23,210 deaths since the start of the war more than 3 months ago.
The ministry stated in a statement that the death toll in the last twenty-four hours amounted to 126 people, noting that 59,167 people had been injured since the start of the war, noting that the majority of the dead and wounded were women and children.
The war broke out when Hamas, classified as a terrorist organization, launched an unprecedented attack on Israel on October 7, killing about 1,200 people, most of them civilians, including women and children.
During the attack, about 250 hostages were taken to the Gaza Strip, 129 of whom are still detained, according to the Israeli authorities.
