Erick Otieno is close to being sold from AIK.
According to Polish information to Sportbladet, Rakow Czestochowa hopes to finish with the left-back in the near future.
Sportbladet was already able to reveal in September that AIK expected Erick Otieno to be sold this winter. He has had a number of clubs after him, including Spanish Espanyol and a couple of other foreign tracks.
But according to Polish information to Sportbladet, Rakow Czestochowa is now working on signing Otieno. Final negotiations are ongoing and although nothing is completely clear, the Polish champions hope to complete AIK’s left-back within the next few weeks.
Are there other stakeholders
If for some reason the negotiations were to break down, which nothing speaks for right now, there are a couple of other interested parties who are willing to buy Otieno off.
AIK’s sporting director Thomas Berntsen has also been clear that the left back is expected to be sold this winter and that Vasalund will have 30 percent of the transfer fee. So far, there have been 99 games for AIK for Otieno. Rakow is currently in fourth place in the Polish league.
Berntsen: It leans towards that
In a big abplus interview with Sportbladet that was done before this publication, he commented on a possible Otieno transfer:
– It is leaning towards it. It’s a bit boring, but at the same time it’s fun. He deserved it and maybe should have gone a couple of years ago. As it stands now, we get a good price for him and he gets to secure the future for himself and his family. It hurts the heart purely sportingly, but at the same time we have to see that perspective as well and treat him to it.
If he disappears, do you bring in a replacement?
– Yes, “Acke” (Axel Björnström) is a slightly different type of player. He has a slightly easier relationship with fellow players and has a slightly better passing and crossing foot. Erick has been very good, but we believe that “Acke” can make top performances for us if we trust him. But he will also face tough competition.
Sportbladet has unsuccessfully sought Rakow Czestochowa’s sporting director Samuel Cardenas for a comment.
