It’s getting colder this morning
This morning (the 9th), the weather became increasingly cold across the country due to cold air in the upper atmosphere and radiation cooling.
The coldest area in the country was Rikubetsu Town in Hokkaido, where the lowest temperature by 7 a.m. was -23.4℃, followed by Sugadaira, Nagano Prefecture, at -22.5℃, which was even more intense than the morning of yesterday, the 8th.
In addition, there were other winter days (minimum temperature below 0℃), such as -0.5℃ in Toyama, -1.5℃ in Nara, and -0.6℃ in Hiroshima, making it the coldest day of the season. The temperature in central Tokyo dropped to 1.5℃, the strongest cold since December 25th (lowest temperature 1.0℃). (The lowest temperature is until 6:30 a.m.)
The cold will ease somewhat during the day.
The maximum daytime temperature today, the 9th, is higher than yesterday, the 8th, and the cold will likely ease somewhat in many places. Nationwide, it is likely to be at or above normal.
Sapporo will have a positive temperature for the first time in two days, reaching 0℃. The temperature in Sendai is expected to be 10℃, 6℃ higher than yesterday on the 8th. Even in Niigata, Kanazawa, Hiroshima, and other areas along the Sea of Japan, the temperature is likely to be around 5℃ higher than yesterday on the 8th. However, since it rains in the earthquake-affected areas of Hokuriku, it will likely feel colder than the temperature. Please try to stay as warm as possible and be careful not to get hypothermia. Temperatures in Osaka, Kochi, and Fukuoka will exceed 10℃, about 3℃ higher than yesterday on the 8th.
