The Court for the Repression of Economic and Financial Offenses (CRIEF) sentenced this Monday, January 8, 2024, several drug sellers, accused of “attacking public health, usurpation of function, illegal exercise of the profession of pharmacist and of complicity.”
Found guilty, the defendants received three years of imprisonment, two years of which were suspended. In the civil action, the judge receives the request from the Guinean State and orders the defendants to collectively pay the sum of 200 million francs to the Guinean State for damages.
Before asking the condemned to return to their places, Francis Kova Zoumanigui reminded the ten people that they have two weeks to appeal the decision.
These traders were arrested in Madina (the largest market in the capital of Conakry) on November 20. During this operation, violent incidents were recorded. They had been in detention since November 28, 2023.
