Books – Marwan Al-Tayeb:
Director Khaled Youssef and the makers of the film “Al-Iskandarani” were guests on the program “The Last Word”, presented by journalist Lamis Al-Hadidi, and shown on the “ON” channel.
“Khaled” talked about the difficulties he faced while filming the film, and his cooperation for the first time with the artist Ahmed Al-Awadi, in addition to his vision for the film “Al-Iskandarani” given that it was a story by the late writer Osama Anwar Okasha and that one of his dreams came true by directing the film “The Writing of the Great Writer.”
Regarding the rape scene in the movie “Al-Iskandarani,” he said: “I will not clash with institutional censorship because I will definitely set the limits that you cross, and that is my last concern, but people’s censorship must definitely remain in my mind, but here I was under pressure, and the pressure was harsh.” Very much, and the rape scene was very cruel, especially the girl acting like a bird. She is the symbol of kindness and tolerance in the film, and she received a sweet tooth from her father.”
He continued: “I tried to lighten the rape scene just as I lightened the ending, because if I had made the case clear, it would have been very cruel. I did something very incomprehensible to it, and Professor Osama Anwar Okasha almost wrote the same ending, but in a different way.”
The film “Al-Iskandarani” achieved remarkable success at the Egyptian box office. The events of the film take place in Alexandria Governorate, where “Bakr Al-Iskandarani” goes through many conflicts with his father, his cousin, and his lover, so he decides to travel abroad in search of a new life, and when he returns after realizing himself, the conflicts return to haunt him. Again, the film is written by Osama Anwar Okasha, directed by Khaled Youssef.
