“The owner called on us because she really liked our way of not using color, while still designing welcoming interiors. She gave us free rein,” confide Chelsea Reale and Diana Rice, the two founders of the interior design studio Sissy +Marley. From a surface of 158 m2 with a large open living space bringing together the living room, the dining room and the kitchen, as well as three bedrooms, this apartment is nestled in the charming West Village district of Manhattan. The challenge ? Create a haven of serenity allowing you to forget the activity of bustling New York.
New York: a brighter apartment
Thanks to the palette restricted, the apartment seems to be bigger and brighter while creating a calming atmosphere, ideal for the owner whose schedule is very busy. For the Sissy + Marley team, it was therefore a matter of give the impression of a boutique hotel dream thanks to the mixture natural fabrics which blend perfectly with the different shades of white while the light invites itself abundantly into the spaces through large windows. The result is a cozy living space with a stylish timeless where every corner fascinates with its perfect visual balance.

“To awaken the neutral tones, it was important to introduce texture and materials with character like leather and brass; they bring a luxurious touch to the whole thing,” explains Chelsea Reale. “We always say that each of our projects is our baby and that finishing it is bringing it into the world. Our client learned that she was pregnant at the start of our collaboration and she gave birth a few weeks after the end of the project,” adds with a smile Diana. Perfectly coordinated timing to start a new life in this New York refuge with minimalist accents.
