The Comodoro Rivadavia team, Waiwen Club, resumed their preseason work this week after the holiday break and continues to refine details for the start of the A2 National League.
The contest will begin on January 19 in Santa Fe; So in the preview, those led by Lisandro Luppo will face a friendly home run at Club Huergo next weekend.
The A2 League is coming
The Waiwen Club is preparing to begin its journey towards the 2024 season of the A2 National League, and in this sense, with the support of the municipal State through Comodoro Deportes, it trains daily at the facilities of the Municipal Gymnasium No. 1, with bodybuilding in the morning in the Methodological Department and field work in the afternoon.
“We thank the municipal management for providing us with their support and lending us their facilities for our preparation. In the first days of December we already had the complete team. The players gave up the holidays with their families to stay and train,” said head coach Lisandro Luppo.
In this preseason framework, Waiwen will play a friendly home run at the Huergo club on Friday the 12th, Saturday the 13th and Sunday the 14th of January, prior to his trip to Santa Fe to start the national competition. “We will receive Pirque de Epuyén and Madryn, who will participate in the Federal League, seeking to generate internal competition and help us among the teams in the province,” he explained.
Objectives for the League 2024
The A2 National Volleyball League has already defined the groups for its competition in the 2024 season. This is the promotion tournament to A1, organized by the Argentine Volleyball Federation, which will be divided into two zones where the Comodorense team of Waiwen will integrate Zone B.
Zone A will be made up of: Libertad de San Jerónimo (current National League champion), Ferro Carril Oeste, Social Monteros de Tucumán, Salta Vóley, Estudiantes de La Plata and Vélez Sarsfield.
Meanwhile, in Zone B, CEF No. 5 from La Rioja, Regatas de Corrientes, Normal No. 3 from Rosario, Waiwen from Comodoro Rivadavia, Córdoba Vóley, Villa Dora from Santa Fe, Ateneo de Catamarca and the Argentine Menor team will face each other.
In this regard, Luppo said that “we have all the expectations and objectives to meet. Together with the board of directors and with municipal support, we worked to finish among the top eight teams in the competition in search of fighting for the Championship zone.”
National League A2 dispute form
The tournament will be played in two stages: The first will be in Santa Fe, from January 19 to 27; while the second round (Championship and Permanence) will be in La Rioja, from February 17 to 24.
In the initial instance, the teams distributed in the two zones will compete against each other in each group. Then, the best four will qualify for the Championship round, while the rest will play for Permanence.
The Waiwen Vóley squad is made up of: Braulio Mendoza, Benjamin Mendoza, Tomas Milidoni, Matías Martínez, Farid Amado, Benjamin Manso, Dylan Mac Lean, Nicolás Pusetto, Leo Escudero, Juan Lovisolo, Juan Francisco Ortegui, Lautaro Ledesma, Nahuel Mansilla, Joaquín Herrera and Santiago Malaisi.
It is worth noting that the Comodorense team maintained the category in the previous season, where it finished in 9th place in the National League A2 and will seek to improve this performance in 2024.
