Everything managed to be kept under wraps for a really long time, but in the end it broke. For many years, under the leadership of director Petr Dvořák, Czech Television looked like the greatest arbiter of truth. What was said in her broadcast was simply true. If anyone tried to object, they were quickly subdued or silenced.
Things were not going well there
However, the twelve-year tenure of the current director was not beneficial for Czech Television. Sure, on the surface, shows such as the popular Stardance or various crime dramas gained viewers, but under the surface it had been bubbling for some time.
Everything broke the year before last, when the moderators, who had been close to each other until then, literally had an argument in front of the public. Nora Fridrichová and Marek Wollner faced each other. And to make matters worse, their teams then faced off against them. They were accused of inappropriate behavior, to put it euphemistically. Sometimes it bordered on harassment or bullying.
But the old director managed to sweep everything under the carpet in the end. Fridrichová was reprimanded and Wollner packed up. However, some catharsis or perhaps an apology to the television workers who had to put up with the egos of these two presenter “stars” simply did not take place.

They colored up nicely
It would certainly have continued if, in the end, Dvořák had not lost the election for another director’s term and Jan Souček had not taken the chair. At the very beginning of his tenure, he rummaged through the conclusions of the commissions that were set up to deal with the behavior of moderators.
And he spoke clearly. “As for the team of ČT Reporters and Mark Wollner, I must say that the protocols contain descriptions of situations that I have never encountered in my 30 years of career in the media and which I consider unacceptable,” he said according to the server Mediaguru.

In the end, Nora Fridrichová held on by a hair. Many now wonder how quickly she was able to turn around and stop spinning her tendentious reporting. In short, she holds on much more and probably knows that she is still worth it.
