OBERHOF – French biathletes won Sunday’s relay of the 4th round of the World Cup in Oberhof. The quartet of Lou Jeanmonnotová, Justine Braisazová-Bouchetová, Sophie Chauveauováa and Julia Simonová triumphed in the 4×6 km in the German center with a time of 1:12:42.5 h.
The Norwegians finished second with a loss of 9.3 seconds, and the Swedish women were third (+33.5 seconds). The race ended for the Slovaks, consisting of Ema Kapustová, Mária Remeňová, Zuzana Remeňová and Júlia Machyniaková, after they were pulled off the track at the penultimate shooting event and took 13th place.

The Poles were surprisingly in the lead after the first item, but they hesitated in the second and the French took the lead. The second Sweden lost only two seconds and Anna Magnussonová got to the first place before the handover. Linn Persson confirmed it, staying in front and keeping her team on top despite two recharges.
The Swede also succeeded in the prone shooting and had a 20-second advantage over the second Justine Braisazová-Bouchetová. However, the leader of the overall SP ranking erased the deficit on the track and moved France to the lead after half the race.
Sophie Chauveau increased her lead by three seconds over Hanna Öberg and also had a better entry on the range. The Swede had to go to a penalty round and dropped to third place. The Norwegians moved to second, but their loss to France was more than half a minute. Chauveau had to charge three times while standing, but Karoline Offigstad Knotten did not use the chance, who missed twice and her deficit was still almost half a minute.
H. Öbergová held the provisional third place. Simonová wanted to confirm her form and victory from Saturday’s fighter in the final round. She managed quite successfully until the final standing event, where she missed three times and gave Tandrevold an opportunity. She lost only twelve seconds. However, the defender of the big globe managed it on the track and led France to triumph.
Kapust’s streak ended at number 71.
Slovakia fielded Kapustová in the opening part, who scored points in the previous three races. In the layup, she confirmed her shooting balance despite the weather conditions, did not make a single mistake and took 11th place. Her streak of accurate shots ended at number 71. She missed three times while standing and had to use all the cartridges, but she managed it without a penalty round and ranked 12th.

However, the Ukrainian overtook her on the track and was passing one position lower. Mária Remeňová was 100% on the shooting range, she kept 13th place, but she passed her sister Zuzana with a three-minute gap to the leading competitors. She made four mistakes, but she avoided a penalty round in the handstand. Thanks to this, Slovakia secured the 13th place, because the remaining relays had already been overtaken by a round and did not continue. Machyniaková had a deficit of 4:53.8 minutes and 45 seconds to the Ukrainian in front of her.
She was struggling while lying down and saw that her opponents were already shooting a handstand. She shot down three targets and was pulled off the track. The Slovak women thus repeated the placing from the first relay of the ongoing season in Östersund. They finished 14th in Hochfilzen, Austria.
