The good, safe era where all the children live at home. And the heavy sadness when they grow up and get ready to leave the nest. It is among the topics Solveig Kloppen (52) and Isabel Skolmen Ødegård (49) talked about when the latter was a guest in Solveig’s podcast “My child-rearing” right before Christmas.
In the podcast, Kloppen talks to a new guest for each episode, about how they have been raised themselves and how they are raising their children. That’s when the actor is asked the question: … and when your oldest child moved out …?

– It was absolutely awesome. It was pain. Crying and sobbing. I had heartbreak for two weeks, Isabel answers quickly.
The actress was 23 years old when she had her daughter Bianca Ødegård Castro (24), who she has from a previous relationship. She later had sons Fredrik and Gustav with her husband Christian Skolmen (53).
The era was over
It is therefore the time when her eldest child, Bianca, moved out a few years ago, which they bring up in the podcast. First, she moved out just before the pandemic, which was short-lived when “the world shut down”:
– She was 20 at the time, going out and traveling and only had a suitcase with her. I remember consoling myself that she had to go back home after all since she had so many things here. “Yes, yes, now she’s just going to go out and experience the world”, I thought – which I liked. I’ve done that myself too, she smiles.
But the second time, on the other hand, it really happened.

– Then she got an apartment, a bed, a chest of drawers… then she disappeared.
Could have been worse
The 49-year-old says in the podcast that her daughter herself tried to comfort her by saying that she only needed a few public transport stops away.
– It would of course have been worse if she had moved to London and we had to fly to visit her. But that was mostly the era that had passed. I am sentimental about eras that are over. Fortunately, I see her very often, says Isabel candidly in the podcast, where she also talks about her love for children, and that ever since she was little she knew she wanted to be a young mother and have a big family.
