One of the innovations in macOS Sonoma is the new floating indicator for switching layouts (more about the indicator in this article). It helps to navigate when changing the keyboard layout, but some users find it unnecessary.
You can’t disable it in the system settings, but the almighty will come to the rescue Terminal.
How to remove the new language switch indicator on Mac
1. Launch the application Terminal. You can find it in search SpotlightV Launchpad or in a folder Programs.
2. Enter the following command:
defaults write kCFPreferencesAnyApplication TSMLanguageIndicatorEnabled 0
3. Press the key Enter.
4. Restart the desired application or log out and log in again for the changes to apply to all programs.
If you want to return the indicator back, enter the same command, but replace the “0” with “1” at the end.
