A 23-year-old woman in the United Kingdom has been found guilty of murdering her fiancé after she deliberately ran over him with her car and dragged his body several meters under the car, according to Chester police.

Alice Wood was convicted of murdering 24-year-old Ryan Watson at Chester Crown Court on January 2 after a three-week trial. Ryan was killed on May 6, 2022, after Wood lost control and ran over him repeatedly.
The couple had returned to their Oak Street home at the time shortly after 11pm. They emerged from a party in Hanley where both had consumed alcohol.

Alice drove home in Ryan’s Fiat Punto, both got out of the vehicle. Around 11:20 p.m., the woman got into her Ford Fiesta and drove off in reverse while Ryan walked around.
Around this time, neighbors reported hearing yelling, doors slamming, and the roar of a car engine. As seen in the CCTV footage, the car driven by Alice reverses, almost hitting Ryan.
The woman drives towards Ryan again, knocking him onto the hood. Footage shows Ryan walking away from the collision, but Alice deliberately runs over him a third time, knocking Ryan to the ground and dragging his body under the car for a considerable amount of time.
The woman continued to drive about 160 meters forward until she stopped at the nearest house. She pleaded with its residents: “Call 911, I think I hit my boyfriend.”
Emergency services immediately responded to the call, but sadly Ryan was pronounced dead at the scene by medics.
On January 2 this year, the killer showed no emotion when a jury convicted him of murder after less than eight hours of deliberation. Judge Michael Leaming remanded her in custody until January 29 and said “she may never be released”.
Alice and Ryan had grown up in nearby Cheadle, a quiet town on the outskirts of Staffordshire, where they are known to have met. They bought their house seven months before Watson’s death with the help of his parents, the DailyMail reports.
On the fateful night, the couple’s disagreements broke out after a party they attended together, where, according to Alice, Ryan had “looked” at another woman.
The woman in question, named Tiffany Ferriday, told the court that she and Ryan got on well, while Alice showed no interest in engaging in conversation: “He danced with all of us, he got everyone involved. Alice doesn’t seem to want to participate.”
Tiffany said she felt Alice watching her constantly that night.

Following Alice’s sentencing, Ryan’s family said they had “finally got justice for their beloved son”.
The family said in a statement: “Ryan’s death has broken our family’s heart. He was taken from us too soon. He was such a young man, 24 years old, with his whole life ahead of him. He had just started his career working for the charity Headway and helping other people, which he really enjoyed doing. Ryan was a big personality. He was a sparkling, funny, loving, caring person with a heart of gold who would do anything for anyone. Ryan loved animals and his dogs. Ryan was always good at sports such as football, BMX cycling and billiards. He loved hanging out with his mates and playing his music.”
