US Secretary of State, Anthony Blinken, discussed with Turkish President, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, the conflict in the Gaza Strip, and stressed the need to make efforts to prevent the expansion of the conflict and secure the release of detainees.
According to the website of the US State Department today, Blinken stressed with Erdogan – in Istanbul – the importance of enhancing the delivery of humanitarian aid to the Palestinians, reducing civilian casualties, and working to establish a comprehensive and lasting peace. “It guarantees the security of Israel and progress towards the establishment of a Palestinian state,” according to the American statement.
The statement explained that Blinken and Erdogan also discussed European security priorities, including “defending Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, completing Sweden’s accession to NATO, as well as enhancing trade and investment between the United States and Turkey.”
