Connor Bedard: Canadian Hockey Player Breaks Jaw, Chicago Blackhawks on Injured List

CHICAGO. Canadian hockey player Connor Bedard broke his jaw and his Chicago Blackhawks team put him on the injured list on Saturday.

This year’s draft pick and candidate for the best rookie of the season was injured on Saturday night in the first period of the game with New Jersey (2-4), when he was attacked by Devils defender Brendan Smith in the 11th minute.

Eighteen-year-old Bedard collected 15 goals and 18 assists in 39 games and leads the rookie productivity chart with 33 points.

Chicago also lost Nick Foligno in the same game, who broke his finger in a fight with Smith in the second period.

Also injured are Anthony Beauvillier, Tyler Johnson, Taylor Raddysh, Joey Anderson, Andreas Athanasiou, Seth Jones and Taylor Hall, who will miss the rest of the season.

The Blackhawks responded to the blunder on Saturday by acquiring forward Remo Pitlick from Pittsburgh for a 2026 seventh-round pick.
