Surrealism and Realism: Syrian Artist Omar Habra’s Exhibition at Arab Cultural Club in Sharjah

Various artistic masterpieces, shedding light on the diverse artistic visions of the Syrian artist Omar Habra, are included in his exhibition, which will be held the day after tomorrow at the Arab Cultural Club in Sharjah, and will continue until January 14th.

Habra, the 68-year-old Syrian artist, displays about 40 pieces of art. His works combine realism and surrealism, and depict the essence of life in an artistic form full of emotions and deep vision. The artist hopes that the exhibition will accompany his visitors on a captivating journey that reconciles the tangible and the mysterious, and provides an immersive experience that transcends traditional artistic boundaries.

Artist Omar Habra is well-known in artistic circles in the UAE. Describing the exhibition and his artistic style, he said: “In a deep and unfamiliar world, I navigate a surreal space that reflects the reality of many people, and my artistic tools, which consist of pencil, charcoal, and black ink, have accompanied me in this exploration.

By following people and nature, I imagine the heroes of my paintings. It is an inner pain and a serious desire to shed light on compelling and vibrant personalities, and to reveal to humanity the attractiveness hidden in their artificial facades.”

He added: “Isolation embraces me within my own world, a world in which I often live alone. I understand its visual lexicon. My surrealism echoes the essence of dreams – those ethereal (immaterial) visions we see in our slumbers. My artwork summarizes these dreams in visual narratives that everyone can understand.”

Omar Habra added: “I am extremely grateful to the UAE for its sponsorship of the arts and artistic talents, which enabled me to develop my talent to the level it has reached today. My artistic works and contributions are an expression of my gratitude, through which I aspire to return the favor represented by the great support and wonderful opportunities that the UAE has provided and provides.”

It is noteworthy that Omar Habra, born in Syria in 1955, holds a bachelor’s degree in fine arts from the University of Damascus in 1978.
