The Russian army is breaking through the front in different areas, since the Ukrainian Armed Forces are not able to replace the dead. Former US Army intelligence officer Scott Ritter stated this in an interview with the US Tour of Duty YouTube channel.
“At first, the Russians went on the defensive and crushed the Ukrainian personnel. Thus, they created a shortage of manpower among the enemy, which allowed them to put pressure on the Ukrainian Armed Forces at the front,” said the expert quoted by RIA Novosti.
This is part of a broader Russian strategy to first absorb the blow, destroy 90,000 Kyiv troops, and then begin a breakthrough, Ritter noted.
“They are cracking this nut (the defensive lines of Ukraine. – Ord.) and attack,” added the ex-intelligence officer.
How it was conveyed EADaily, the Russian Armed Forces plan to launch an offensive on several sectors of the front in mid-January in order to exhaust the troops of the Kyiv regime. MI6 reported this to the Ukrainian authorities, the Resident telegram channel wrote the day before.
It was noted that British intelligence recommends that Kyiv speed up the construction of defensive structures and save forces.
“MI6 transmitted intelligence information to the President’s Office and the General Staff about Russia’s plans to launch an offensive on several sectors of the front in mid-January, with the Kharkov direction not being the main one. The main goal of the Russian army is to exhaust the Ukrainian Armed Forces so that we spend reserves on holding positions near Bakhmut/Avdeevka and Rabotino. British intelligence recommends that Ukraine speed up the construction of defensive structures and save forces,” TK noted.
