AZ drew 2-2 in a practice match against Borussia Dortmund, PSV’s opponent in the eighth finals of the Champions League. The match was played in blocks of four, thirty minutes each. After the first two blocks, the Alkmaarders took a surprising 0-2 lead, but after many changes in Pascal Jansen’s team, Dortmund was able to come alongside.
Jansen’s team had very little to fear from Dortmund’s usual starting eleven in the first sixty minutes. Thanks to goals from Vangelis Pavlidis and Jens Odgaard, the number four of the Eredivisie went into halftime with a 0-2 lead. PSV watched carefully and undoubtedly saw clues in the practice match played by AZ.
