Many hundreds of players have participated in this year’s edition of the Scania Cup. Many have lost and many have won.
Two have been awarded the award as the tournament’s best player in the 16-year-old class. The award went to Elsa Svensson from Ifö Bromölla IF, who almost missed the tournament due to the snow chaos, and Isac Åkerman Berndtsson from FC Trelleborg 2.
– It just so happened that we arrived on time because the trains were a little late in the snow chaos. So the same morning that the tournament was to be played, it was doubtful whether we would even have a team, says Elsa Svensson.

It is both a short walk and at the same time it would require a seven-mile life for the players inside the Kombihallen to get to the Stadium in the future. That said, it’s probably more likely than not that some of them make it all the way.

With the awards, the two players write themselves into the history books side by side with names such as Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Markus Rosenberg, Therese Sjögran and Hanna Bennison.
– It means a lot, it’s a great honor to be the best player in the tournament, says Isac Åkerman Berndtsson, who has former Skåne Cup winner Zlatan Ibrahimovic as his idol, along with Cristiano Ronaldo, but who himself stayed further back in the field for his FC Trelleborg 2 in the final, where he got to use his game sense.
And so little numbers on that. A total of 640 teams have entered this year’s edition of the Scania Cup. There have been 1063 games played and many more goals scored.
FC Trelleborg 2 won the final after finishing 4–0 against FC Trelleborg 1.
And the final game in Kombihallen on Saturday attracted large crowds as usual.
The first final was played at 09:00 and already half an hour later they had filled the arena to the maximum limit, 600 people, which led to many standing for fifteen minutes and half an hour outside the hall, stamping their feet in the crystal cold sun.
What was it like playing in front of so many people?
– It was nervous, but you got used to it once the match started, says Elsa Svensson.
Even more fun for the top two players was that their teams won their finals.

After a bit of back and forth.
The leading figure, Elsa Svensson, was close to not arriving in time for the tournament due to the snow chaos during the days. Bromölla was actually close to having to cancel their participation, but all but two players managed to get to Malmö in the end.
