HOHHOT, Jan. 6 (Xinhua) — Erenhot Terminal of north China’s Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region handled 3,294 China-Europe freight trains in 2023, an increase of 30.8 percent in year-on-year, the local entry and exit border control post announced on Saturday.
The throughput of merchants imported and exported through this terminal totaled 4.08 million tonnes, up 34.5% year-on-year. Erenhot handled 375,000 twenty-foot equivalent units (TEU) of goods in 2023, an annual increase of 39.4%.
Erenhot Terminal is the largest land terminal between China and Mongolia, and the only entry and exit point of the middle corridor of China-Europe rail freight service.
Goods transported by China-Europe freight trains passing through Erenhot Terminal include a thousand product categories, including shoes and clothing, mechanical and electrical products, as well as automobile vehicles and parts. ■
