NEW YORK — A man was brutally beaten and stabbed after wishing four strangers a “happy new year” on a Bronx subway platform earlier this week, police say.
The 29-year-old man was standing on the southbound D train platform at the 182nd Street-183rd Street station shortly before 9 p.m. on Monday when the group approached him.
The man told them “Happy New Year,” according to police, but then an argument broke out and escalated.
The NYPD says the suspects repeatedly punched the 29-year-old victim in the face and body. One of them pulled out a sharp object and stabbed the victim several times.
The suspects fled after the attack and the victim was taken to a hospital in serious condition, but is expected to survive.
Now the authorities are searching for the criminals. Police released a surveillance image of them.
