This is how men run, from performance to performance, from model to model.
“There are 1000 ways to be masculine… the plural is brand new in terms of representation. So what to do about it …. that’s what makes it very funny. Otherness, difference and all its complementarities, otherwise we would be crazy bored.” Mickael Delis, actor, author and director.
There are hegemonic and virile models: Arnold Schwarzenegger, Cristiano Ronaldo or Elon Musk, and there would be alternatives, notably the recent figure of the “deconstructed man”. However, this episode will teach us that this new avatar of man, detached from the social structure, appears as another form of dominant but disguised masculinity…
How then should we think of “good men”? Perhaps we should abandon the notion of model and prefer that of image. ” He’s a big smile, that’s a pleasure, men who smile are members of the “Lusted Men” collective. In the absence of gestures and practical criteria to define “good” masculinities, we look at some images of men, images that are missing, in the hope of constructing other imaginaries. “There are several women in our early thirties who came together around the question: where are the erotic photographs of men? …we want to question our desire, eroticism and to ask ourselves the question what moves me? What photography do I want to see? And we realize that images exist, but that they are not necessarily disseminated, that they are not part of our dominant culture. So we’re launching a collection saying send us your photos…” Lola Lafon, members of the “Lusted Men” collective.
