Etecsa offers a 25GB Promotional Plan for only 125 CUP

The state-owned Telecommunications Company of Cuba SA (Etecsa) has launched a new international recharge special, giving its customers the opportunity to pay 25 GB of mobile data to their Cubacel lines in exchange for only 125 Cuban pesos (CUP).

According to a statement shared by Etecsa on its social networks, the promotion will be available starting January 8, and will end a week later, on the 13th of the same month.

The mobile data received can be used for Internet browsing on any network (3G or 4G LTE), although they point out that the promotion will only be available through international distributors who receive payment from abroad.

By emphasizing this, Etecsa makes it clear that citizens on the Island will not be able to recharge themselves in stores in Freely Convertible Currency (MLC), nor through the MiTransfer exchange, as has been possible in previous promotions.

“More Megas in your Internet packages! Buy a 25 GB Promotional Plan to enjoy on all networks for 125 CUP. Available only through International Distributors, from January 8 to 13,” reads the Etecsa publication.

It is important to note that the bonus mobile data will extend the life cycle of the mobile line for an additional 330 days after receiving the Promotional Plan. However, the purchase will not add to the customers’ principal credit balance.

Similarly, the telecommunications monopoly in Cuba indicates that the 25 GB received must be spent within a maximum range of 30 days after receiving the bonus.

Mobile data may be used to browse national and international pages, as long as they have not been blocked by the Castro authorities.

The company’s official website indicates that, if a customer already has active daros bonuses or “unlimited” Internet plans from previous promotions, these will be accumulated with the 25GB of the current Promotional Plan, extending the expiration date. However, those who have combined voice and SMS plans will not see their validity extended, only that of the data.

Etecsa makes it clear that the cost of the offer could change depending on the distributors that carry out the recharges, this takes into account the exchange rate and other relevant factors of the currency of each country.
