If you have an internet connection and want to purchase digital books and audiobooks for free, you can enter the Digital Public Library of the National Library of Peru.

On this platform you can find thousands of titles from various genres: classic literature, children’s literature, youth literature, arts, social sciences, gastronomy and many more.

To access you must have a computer or cell phone, with a stable internet connection.

Requirements

Have a registered user in the Digital Public Library.

Before starting, you should know:

Enter the platform with your username and password. Choose the digital book or audiobook of your preference.

You can have a book for 14 calendar days. After the deadline has passed, the platform will automatically return the book.

You can only read a maximum of 2 books at a time; If you want an additional one, you must return at least one.

If you want a book but it appears as borrowed on the platform, you can make a reservation and receive it when it is released.

You can also download the Digital Library app, either for iOS or Android cell phones.

Request a loan of books from the National Library at home

The Great Public Library of Lima (GBPL), the Public Library Stations (EBP) and the Bibliomóvil offer the home loan service of books.

Conditions

This benefit is aimed at people with mobility difficulties, such as older adults or those who have a physical disability.

At the GBPL, home lending through library pick-up is available to all residents in any district of Lima; while the delivery loan covers the districts of Rímac, Cercado de Lima, La Victoria, Breña, Jesús María, Lince, San Juan de Lurigancho and Pueblo Libre. In the EBPs, attention is up to 35 blocks around each headquarters.

Before starting, you should know:

Enter the platform and click on the library location closest to you. Next, select the book of your interest and then click on Request a loan.

Once your request has been entered, complete the form with your personal information, indicating the day and time that you will collect the bibliographic material and loan method. You will receive a confirmation email. Keep in mind that within a maximum period of 2 weeks, you must return the book(s) you requested to the office where you completed your home loan procedure.

1. Choose the venue

Come to the headquarters of the National Library of Peru (BNP) closest to your district so you can request your book in the home loan mode. Find the headquarters you should approach, depending on your location:

GBPL: Rímac, Cercado de Lima, La Victoria, Breña, Jesús María, Lince, San Juan de Lurigancho and Pueblo Libre.

EBP La Victoria: Cercado, El Agustino, La Victoria, Lince, San Borja, San Isidro and San Luis.

EBP Rímac: Cercado, Independencia, Rímac, San Juan de Lurigancho and San Martín de Porres.

EBP El Agustino: Ate, Cercado, El Agustino, La Victoria, San Juan de Lurigancho, San Luis and Santa Anita.

EBP Comas: Carabayllo, Comas, Independencia, Los Olivos, Puente Piedra and San Martín de Porres.

2. Return to the material

Within a maximum period of 2 weeks, you must return the book(s) you requested to the office where you completed your home loan procedure.
