In 2023, Valve has already “upgraded” the graphics of CS:GO, transferring it to the Source 2 engine, but recently the Chinese 3D artist Pluviophile (雷鸣 on YouTube) decided to show how one of the most recognizable maps in the game would look on Unreal Engine 5 .
We are talking about the cult arena cs_italy (aka simply Italy), which takes terrorists and special forces soldiers from Counter-Strike 2 to the narrow streets of a picturesque European town (potentially Italian Verona).
Pluviophile took the one published in the fall of 2022 as the basis for recreating Italy on the new engine. project and training course works with Unreal Engine 5 from the artist UE班的小学生 from the ArtStation portal.
The enthusiast demonstrated his version of Italy on Unreal Engine 5 in a minute-long video published recently on YouTube (see video above) and a selection of screenshots from your profile on ArtStation (see gallery below).
Pluviophile combined the map layout familiar to fans with many small details like butterflies fluttering over flowers and doves sunbathing in the sun, as well as a musical composition from the anime Howl’s Moving Castle from Studio Ghibli.
Pluviophile used a range of programs to create the scene, from Blender, Photoshop and Premiere to Marvelous Designer, Quixel Mixer and Bridge, Substance 3D Designer and 3D Painter.
Judging by the comments under the video, viewers were amazed by the version of Italy on Unreal Engine 5. “Firstly, this is actually a completely different map. Secondly, everything is so cozy that it’s a shame to shoot.”– believes 12strel.
