Varzim’s management resigned en masse. At issue is the cancellation of the Extraordinary General Assembly in December, which had the purpose of discussing the creation of a SAD.
“The Varzim Sport Club Management does not accept that, without any valid justification and in an arrogant manner that, in its opinion, constitutes a clear situation of abuse of power, the sovereign right to decide on the future of the club has been taken away from members . Therefore, and in sequence, he decided today, 04/01/24, to present to the Board of the General Assembly, in the figure of its president, his resignation en bloc. The Management of Varzim Sport Club regrets that, in this way, prevented members from expressing their opinion on the future they intend for the club, throwing it into a very complex situation, and wishes the future managers all the best, making themselves available to provide all the necessary support, during the transition”, can be read in the statement from the management led by Edgar Pinho.
The president of the General Assembly, António Moura Gonçalves, stated that all documents had to be made available to management by December 18th. This did not happen and, furthermore, the opinion of the Supervisory Board was lacking, hence the cancellation of the AG.
