British actress Glynis Jones, who worked extensively in films, plays, and musicals, passed away at the age of 100. The deceased won her love for her role as Mrs. Winifred Banks, London’s passionate wife, her mother and a political activist, in her 1964 film ‘Mary Poppins’.

Jones’ manager Mitch Clem said in an interview with CNN on the 4th (local time) that “Jones passed away peacefully at a nursing home in Los Angeles (LA).” The cause of his death has not yet been disclosed. Jones is survived by his grandson Thomas and three great-grandchildren.

Born in South Africa and raised in England, Jones’ acting career began as a teenager with an appearance in the 1938 drama “South Riding.” In 1960, he received much acclaim for his starring role in the film ‘The Sundowners’, co-starring Deborah Kerr and Robert Mitchum, which earned him five Oscar nominations, including one for Best Supporting Actress.

In the 1964 movie ‘Mary Poppins’, she played the role of Mrs. Banks, a character who campaigned for women’s suffrage by wearing a shoulder belt that said ‘Vote for Women’. In 1973, she played the lead role in the Broadway musical A Little Night Music, for which she won the Tony Award for Best Actress in a Musical. In the 1980s and 1990s, he appeared in various TV series, and his film roles include ‘While You Were Sleeping’ in 1995 and ‘Superstar’ in 1999.

Jones was married and divorced four times. The deceased was married to her first husband, British actor Anthony Forwood, from 1942 to 1948. She later married and separated from two businessmen, and her last husband was Elliot Arnold, an American feature writer and novelist.

The deceased also said that acting was not his only dream. In an interview with the Los Angeles Times in 1991, he said, “I wanted to become a scientist and continue to go to college,” but expressed regret, saying, “You can’t do everything (you want) in life.” Last October, Jones celebrated her 100th birthday and told ABC7, “Age has no effect on me.”

Clem issued a statement today, commemorating the deceased, saying, “Her light shone very brightly for 100 years.”
