It seems that even some devices that, according to users on Reddit, suffer from a special design defect – the rear cover glass allegedly peels off and crumbles by itself. So far, however, it looks like this design flaw affects only a small percentage of users and is not a widespread problem.

According to information from Income some users have started to notice that the edges of their iPhone have some “glue that peels off along the edge of the back”. They claim they were using the Rhinoshield Mod NX case but could not link the use of that case to this defect. “I feel like the whole back is a sticker that’s about to peel off,” wrote some iPhone 15 Pro owners. Another comment says: “There’s a lot of black stuff around the edges.” The user noticed this because he had just cleaned the case. Given that the rear glass covers are de facto all glued on modern smartphones, this is by no means a groundbreaking finding.

Some users have noted that if other people have their iPhone 15 Pro models peeling off, they should avoid any contact with liquid to avoid another problem. Since Apple changed the way they repair the back glass of the iPhone 15 Pro, one Reddit user noted that this could be related to the problem. Previously, the iPhone 14 Pro had to replace the entire device if the back glass was damaged. For new phones, only the back glass can be replaced.
