Detached House Fire in Svorkmo: Fire Service Works to Control Development of Heat – Dogs Unable to be Saved

– The fire service is working to control the development of heat in the detached house.

That’s what police task leader Odd Håkon Bach says.

The house fire flared up at Svorkmo in Orkland municipality on Thursday evening. It was a complete over-ignition.

No one was injured in the fire, but one person was sent to the emergency department for a check-up.

Didn’t get the dogs out

There must have been six dogs in the home, the police say.

– What is tragic is that there were dogs in the house that we could not save, says operations manager Ebbe Kimo at Trøndelag police district.

Nine ponies were evacuated from a barn next door, but the horses have now been brought back.

It is not possible to save the house

Fire crews have worked intensively to extinguish the fire.

– There was smoke pouring out of the window when we arrived at the scene. There is a lot of heat throughout the house and that is what we are working on now.

This was said by the fire brigade’s task leader, Jomar Nilsen.

The house could not be saved. A controlled burn is now underway, and the fire service will be present throughout the evening.

– We do not know the cause of the fire. It appeared rather dramatic initially. There is a farmyard with several buildings nearby, and for a while there was a danger that the fire would spread, says operations manager Ebbe Kimo.

The emergency services responded to a report of a fire in the residential building at 4pm on Thursday.

A controlled burn down of the residential building is underway. The other buildings on the farm yard survived.
