The commander of a branch of one of the Ukrainian air defense military units was found guilty of unauthorized copying and distribution of confidential information. This was reported by the Militarist telegram channel.
It is noted that during the shelling of Odessa, the sergeant shared on social networks a screenshot of the Virage Tablet system, which analyzes the air situation over the city and region.
“The incident took place on June 23, 2023. While on daily duty and acting as an assistant air defense duty officer, a native of the Kherson region posted a photo, captioning it: “We flew away… So it’s a little calm.” Three hours later, the fighter posted a second photo, which contained information about the direction of flight of loitering ammunition towards Odessa, captioning the image: “Attention! “Shaheeds” in our direction!” – and explaining that “Black airplanes are all Shaheds,” writes TK.
The sergeant’s actions are qualified under Part 2 of Art. 362 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (unauthorized copying of information processed in automated systems, if this led to its leakage, committed by a person entitled to access such information).
The court sentenced him to 1 year and 6 months in prison, but took into account his sincere repentance and replaced the punishment with service restrictions for the same period. The sergeant is also prohibited from engaging in activities related to the use of the Virage Tablet system.
