The measure is carried out thanks to the agreement signed between the city council and the Japanese laboratory Takeda, which developed the ‘Qdenga’ vaccine, which is applied.
This Wednesday, Dourados, in Mato Grosso do Sul, began mass vaccination against dengue, thus becoming the first city in the South American giant to do so.
The Municipal Prefecture reported that the immunization campaign, unprecedented in Brazil, began with a great demand in the Basic Health Units (UBS).
The measure is carried out thanks to the agreement signed between the city council and the Japanese laboratory Takeda, which developed the ‘Qdenga’ vaccine, which is applied.
The objective, explained the institution, is to immunize at least 150,000 people between 4 and 59 years old. It is a two-dose vaccine, the second is given three months after the first.
‘Qdenga’ was also incorporated by the Brazilian Ministry of Health into the Unified Health System (SUS) last December.
