From the function of the airport expansion project
Sharjah: Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler of Sharjah, laid the foundation stone for the terminal expansion project at the International Airport. The Viceroy of Sharjah Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed bin Sultan Al Qasimi was present.
The 1,90,000 square meter project is expected to be completed by 2027. The project will be completed at a cost of 123.5 crore dirhams.
Al Qasimi evaluated the design of the project. With the completion of the project, the passenger capacity can be increased to two crore per year. The terminal expansion is the most important phase of the Dh240 crore expansion projects.
Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed was also briefed on plans to increase the number of self-check-in machines, electronic boarding gates, waiting lounges, restaurants and hotels for transit passengers at the airport.
He was also briefed on the advanced communication systems that will improve the functioning of the airport.
Sheikh Khalid bin Abdullah bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Chairman of Sharjah Sea Ports and Customs, Sheikh Faisal bin Saud Al Qasimi, Director of Sharjah International Airport Authority, and Sheikh Sultan bin Abdullah Al Thani, Director of Civil Aviation Department attended the ceremony.
