The US company “Tesla Motors” lost the title of the world’s largest electric car manufacturer to the Chinese company BYD in the fourth quarter of last year, according to data released on Tuesday.
“Tesla” delivered 484,507 cars to customers in the fourth quarter of last year, which is an increase of more than 11% compared to the same period last year.
But this increase has not been enough to protect the title of the world’s largest electric car manufacturer, as BYD delivered 526,409 cars in the last three months of last year.
In addition, BYD also sold more than 400,000 plug-in hybrid cars in the fourth quarter, and last year in total the company delivered more than three million vehicles to customers.
However, when looking at last year as a whole, Tesla was the world’s largest electric car maker, having delivered more than 1.8 million cars to customers in the 12 months, compared to about 1.6 million electric cars sold by BYD.
