Massive Fire in Jelambar, West Jakarta: 15 Houses Burnt Down

Fire hit the Jelambar area, West Jakarta (Jakbar). A total of 15 houses were burnt down.

“A total of 15 residential houses were burned down,” said Head of West Jakarta Fire Management and Rescue (Gulkarmat) Sub-dept., Syarifudin, Wednesday (3/1/2024).

Dozens of houses affected were in RT 09, 10 and 11. As a result of the big fire, as many as 60 residents from 22 families lost their homes.

The fire was located on Jalan Jelambar Utama IV, Grogol Petamburan, West Jakarta at 11.05 WIB. A total of 18 fire trucks and 100 personnel were deployed to extinguish the fire.

The fire was extinguished at 13.12 WIB. The amount of material loss due to the fire is not yet known.

“The suspected cause of the fire was the stove,” he said.

As a result of the fire, a resident named Junaedi (45) was injured in the head. The victim has been taken to the Duta Mas Health Center.

“The victim had head injuries due to falling asbestos fragments,” he said.

Residents affected by the fire were evacuated to the MI Arridha School Yard using BPBD DKI Jakarta tents.
