One player in Baldur’s Gate 3 managed to defeat one of the hardest bosses in the game, erasing his mind and making him so stupid that he died.
The Steel Watch in Baldur’s Gate 3 are some of the most fearsome enemies in the game. These are the robotic servants of Enver Gortash, who uses them to control the streets of Baldur’s Gate and spy on the townspeople.
Finding a way to defeat the Steel Watch is one of the toughest challenges in the third act of Baldur’s Gate 3. Trying to defeat Gortash without disabling his metal minions means an incredibly difficult fight.
Baldur’s Gate 3 uses D&D 5E rules, where each character has 6 stats. If any of them are reduced to zero, the target instantly dies, regardless of health points.
The Titan has only 6 Intelligence points, so the player used the “Intelligence Absorption” ability and deprived the boss of his mind. Even though it is a magical robot, the loss of Intelligence killed it instantly.
Generally, nerfing boss stats in BG3 is a bad idea. But the Titan is unique in that it has a low Intelligence score, which makes it vulnerable to mind flayer magic.
And this once again reminds why BG3 truly deserves the Game of the Year award. For any problem you can find a lot of solutions here. Few people expected that a giant robot could be killed by breaking its brains, but the developers made it possible.
