– When I came out of the Haukeli tunnel to the west, I saw almost nothing. It was very windy and slippery, says Eli Lunde.
She is among those who have driven in column over the E134 Haukelifjell on Wednesday, but had waited to drive home to Haugesund until the weather had calmed down.
– We talked a bit with the crew up there early today. They have not experienced such crazy weather as it was last night.
– There were many cars with small children on board that did not have petrol or electricity. So there was a lot of chaos.
Eli Lunde and his family have a cabin on Vågslid, and did not travel over the mountain until Wednesday morning. They waited around an hour in line.

Rev. 7 above Hardangervidda is still closed to cars, and there is a convoy on E134 Haukelifjell. Fv50 Hol-Aurland is open again, after convoy driving earlier.
During the night to Wednesday, it was also closed over Haukeli, and several cars remained standing until the morning, according to the Swedish Traffic Agency.
Took those who were awake into the tunnel with them
Watch leader Olav Stana at the plowing station at Haukelifjell worked last night.
– At 5 o’clock I took those who were stuck and awake at Tyrveli into the waiting room in the Haukeli tunnel. There is a toilet, and a food pantry for those who needed it.
It is at the Haukelitunnelen that the column starts heading east.
The first column was underway at 07.20. It is expected to continue with the column all Wednesday and perhaps all night until Thursday.
Einar Christenson took this photo from Austmannalia on Wednesday morning. He had to wait around an hour before he was allowed to join the column above Haukeli.

According to Stana, motorists must expect a waiting time of around two hours.
– There are 40 cars waiting in Haukelitunnelen no. So there are still many who want to cross the mountain, says Stana to NRK around 10 o’clock.
Everyone who didn’t get over before the road was closed on Tuesday evening has got off guard.
Hey!
Do you have a picture or video, or are you waiting for a column? Then I would like to hear from you.
Waited over six hours in line
This is the status of the mountain crossings, updated at 1.30 p.m.:
- Rv7 Hardangervidda: The mountain opens for convoy driving for vehicles over 7.5 tonnes at 2 p.m. The road is still closed to cars.
- E134 Haukelifjell: Column driving.
- Fv50 Hol – Aurland: Open again, after convoy driving earlier on Wednesday.
Ida Kallevik and her family waited over six hours to come with a column over Haukeli on Tuesday afternoon and evening.
They stood in the queue at Vågslid from 3pm to a little over 9pm. They were home in Haugesund a little over 00.30. The journey from Drammen took over 15 hours in total.
– But it went well and I got good information from the plowing crew who were there, she says.

Ask people to bring food and check the tow hook
On New Year’s Day alone, 5,000 cars crossed Haukelifjell on the E134, and bad weather has meant that it takes a long time to catch up with the columns.
In addition, the road had to be closed completely last night, says Stana.
– The dump truck drivers saw nothing. Then it is not safe to take motorists with you, when you do not see the windscreen wipers even once.
– There are some who say that it looks like the weather is so nice, and that it can’t be so bad that we have to close. What is it like to actually be up here?

– There has been a lot of wind. Around New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day, there was a lot of rainfall here as well. Then it is primarily the sight that becomes so terribly bad.
He has the following encouragement for people going over the mountain:
– Remember to bring enough food and clothing, a full tank and fully charged car. And remember to check where the tow hook is on your car.
– Feel free to get him into the car, possibly screw him into place before you join the column.
Snow, wind and heavy snowdrifts create particularly big problems in Southern Norway. The National Roads Administration and the police ask people in Agder to leave their cars.
Train departures between Oslo and Kristiansand are also cancelled.
