There is flooding throughout the province of East Flanders, but no large-scale evacuations are expected at this time. Governor Carina Van Cauter reports this.
According to the latest data, the greatest impact is in Aalst, Denderleeuw, Ninove, Deinze, Sint-Martens-Latem, Ghent, Zulte, Kruisem, Zwalm, Brakel, Oudenaarde, Maarkedal, Geraardsbergen, Erpe-Mere, Lebbeke, Horebeke, Herzele and Haaltert.
Several homes have been impacted, the governor says. The emergency response zones try to limit the impact with pumps and sandbags. The Civil Protection also offers help.
A new meeting is scheduled for 9 o’clock this morning within the provincial coordination committee. It will then be reconsidered whether evacuations are necessary.
Consultations about flooding will also take place in Flemish Brabant at 9 am.
