Updated 15.29 | Published 15.23

DAVOS/STOCKHOLM. Calle Halfvarsson went out in the sprint qualifying.

Now he looks set to drop out of the Tour de Ski.

– Now I have to drop this damn tour and go home, he says.

Calle Halfvarsson has not had a successful Tour de Ski. The Swede, who came to the tour directly after a covid illness, did not advance from the sprint prologue in Davos.

– It’s tough. I have nothing to go with. It feels so bad, I don’t think people understand how bad it feels. I don’t think it has ever felt worse. I can hardly stand here after the finish line. Then it is not possible to compete against the best, he says.

“This doesn’t work”

Now Halfvarsson out to skip the Tour de Ski.

– Now I have to drop this damn tour and go home and try to find my way back to my former self.

There will be nothing more for you?

– Probably not. No, this doesn’t work. It doesn’t work for me. I made an attempt, but it feels worse than in Toblach.

When do you go home?

– I will hear from the coaches. It’s not completely certain, but I hope as soon as possible. It’s a stress to be here. It won’t do any good for me to walk around here not knowing what to do, so I’ll probably go home.

We won’t see you at the start tomorrow?

– I do not think so. I may give an announcement tonight or this afternoon, but right now the feeling is that I am going home. It is highly probable.

Nor did William Poromaa, Gustaf Berglund, Leo Johansson or Jens Burman advance. However, Edvin Anger did a good qualifying and had the fourth best time.
