Cristiano Ronaldo Proudly Joins Al Nassr, Declares European Career ‘Finished’

Cristiano Ronaldo is ‘proud’ of his move to Al Nassr and says his work in Europe is ‘finished’.

Ronaldo will earn around $200 million a year from Al Nassr, according to Saudi state media.

“I am very proud to make this big decision in my life, in football. As you said, my work in Europe is finished. I have won everything,” said the five-time Ballon d’Or winner. “I played in the most important clubs in Europe and for me now it’s a new challenge.”

The 37-year-old also revealed that a number of clubs around the world had tried to sign him.

“I had many opportunities in Europe, in many clubs, in Brazil, in Australia, in the United States and even in Portugal. Many clubs tried to recruit me, but it is to this club that I owe this opportunity,” he said.

Despite the disappointment of Qatar 2022 with Portugal, Ronaldo became the first man to score in five World Cups. He started Portugal’s round of 16 and quarter-finals on the substitutes’ bench, losing his place in the starting team when manager Fernando Santos opted to play Gonçalo Ramos in his place.

It came shortly after his high-profile split with Manchester United, sparked by an interview with TalkTV’s Piers Morgan in which Ronaldo said he felt “betrayed” by the Premier League club.

In that interview, he also said he had no respect for manager Erik ten Hag and cast doubt on his return to the team.

Despite a clear slowdown on the pitch in the twilight of her career, the Portuguese star is confident she can make an impact with Al Nassr.

“I’m a unique player, so it’s good to come here,” Ronaldo said. “I broke all the records there, so I want to break some here too.
