(ANSA) – FLORENCE, 03 JAN – The winter sales in Tuscany will start on January 5th: according to Confcommercio Toscana, there will be two million (57% of residents) Tuscans ready to buy clothes and footwear at reduced prices in the 60 days available , for an average amount of 142 euros per person, compared to 133 euros in January 2023. The association estimates a turnover of over 296 million euros.
Confesercenti Toscana estimates that the average budget per family will be 267 euros, but 38% of those interviewed in the Ipsos survey plan to spend less than 150 euros. The slight increase in the per capita budget recorded by Confcommercio Toscana “is also due to inflation, which has increased prices – underlines director Franco Marinoni – in any case, we have not yet returned to the 160 euros recorded in winter 2020, the the last one before the pandemic”. However, “the average regional expenditure for sales is 5 euros higher than the national one, which stands at around 137 euros per person”, underlines the president of Federmoda-Confcommercio Toscana Paolo Mantovani. According to Confesercenti, the exceptionally mild temperatures recorded between October and December have almost halved (-46%) purchases of autumn-winter collections, so shops arrive at the sales without practically ever having had the opportunity to sell them at full price.
“We continue to ask to postpone the start of the discounts to a date closer to the true end of the season”, says Marco Rossi, president of Fismo Confesercenti Toscana.
