JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – Deputy Chair of the National Campaign Team (TKN) for presidential-vice presidential candidate number 2, Prabowo Subianto-Gibran Rakabuming Raka, Habiburokhman responded to the criticism sent by vice presidential candidate number 1, Muhaimin Iskandar alias Cak Imin.
Cak Imin alluded to the government purchasing defense equipment at fantastic prices.
According to Habiburokhman, Cak Imin’s statement shows that the General Chair of the National Awakening Party (PKB) does not understand geopolitics and geostrategy.
“Yes, that shows Pak Muhaimin’s lack of understanding regarding geopolitics and geostrategic matters,” said Habiburokhman at the Central Jakarta Bawaslu Office, Tanah Abang, Wednesday (3/1/2024).

Habiburokhman said that buying the main weapon system (alutsista) is not like buying instant noodles at a minimarket.
A similar narrative was expressed by Prabowo as Minister of Defense.
“You don’t necessarily have money to buy it, you know,” said Habiburokhman.
Habiburokhman then brought up the statement of the 10th and 12th Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia, Jusuf Kalla (JK).
“Remember, in the first presidential candidate debate, Mr JK, if I’m not mistaken, said, ‘In the next 20 years, in the next 30 years there will be no war in the world’,” said Habiburokhman.
“(Then) Ukraine, Hamas-Israel (war) erupted, tensions in the South China Sea,” said the Deputy General Chair of the Gerindra Party.
Previously, Cak Imin alluded to the government purchasing defense equipment at fantastic prices.
According to him, there is a priority scale that the government must implement, one of which is focusing on strengthening the agricultural sector rather than spending on defense equipment in a peaceful situation.
“It’s better to have debt to buy agricultural equipment, we are not at war but why are we buying so many war equipment, this is a big question mark,” said Cak Imin at the Si Jalak Harupat Stadium, Bandung Regency, West Java, Wednesday.
Cak Imin said that the real defense is food. He said, if food is not finished, any form of defense will not be possible.
“Real defense is food, the state must be present for the community, especially farmers, because they (farmers) are fighters,” he said.
