Kanagawa University Announces Retirement of Ekiden Coach Mr. Eiji Ohgo and Appointment of Successor

Mr. Eiji Ogo (Faculty of Human Sciences, Professor, Track and Field Director, and Ekiden Director) of Kanagawa University (President Makoto Oguma) Track and Field Ekiden Team will retire from his role as Ekiden coach on January 3, 2024, From the 4th, Mr. Tsuyoshi Nakano (current head coach) will be appointed as the Ekiden coach. I would like to thank you for allowing me to lead the team for so many years since I was appointed as coach in 1989.

We have decided to pass on the training and strengthening of the Ekiden team to the next generation. To all the current students, alumni, their parents, and high school teachers who have come to our university’s doors, as well as our university’s faculty and staff, alumni of the track and field club, the Imperial Palace Association, the supporters’ association, and the fans of the Shinto University Ekiden team. As the successor to my mentor, Professor Ogo, I feel a strong sense of responsibility, and I am grateful for the opportunity to pursue my dreams together with the students.
