It is a derelict object to be taken over by the state, however, all the necessary processes have not been completed.
Noticing that the danger of the building is increasing, we informed the municipality about it at the beginning of December. Trees have grown inside the building, which are pressing on the masonry of the upper part of the building’s brickwork, as a result of which the bricks are detached and fall onto the pedestrian sidewalk, creating a danger for passers-by.

In order to prevent threats, the construction board asked the executive directorate of the municipality to find an opportunity to prevent the danger and the entry of unauthorized persons into the real estate.
A. Vitals regretfully admits that the municipality has no right to start anything else in this object or to take over the property with its own hands while it is under the control of the state.
“One thing is clear – at the moment, neither demolition nor construction or any other development is planned there,”

Mārtiņš Tīdens, the deputy executive director for property issues, confirms that currently work is being done on Zāļu Street 2 to prevent the danger, as this is the only thing that the municipality can do.
“We have been discussing for a long time how the city could take over this building and the territory, but there are holes in the regulatory acts that simply do not allow it to be handed over to the municipality.
In any case, we will eliminate the critical gaps and continue to look for a solution,”
says M. Tieden.

Its owner lived in the United States, died, did not arrange the inheritance and did not confirm the property in the land register.
Losses for the city from such a place alone: garbage has to be collected countless times, the municipality cannot collect property tax for this house, and the neighboring properties have been threatened by multiple fires.
Since no solution has been found, the remains of the child of concern stand as they have. All that can be done now is to make sure that they do not pose a threat to passers-by.
