Thousands of children have already had fun on the slides and climbing equipment at the playgrounds in Horgen. Some people have taken home a scratch when they fell – but most only have good memories.
The municipality of Horgen has now decided to renew three playgrounds. This involves the facilities at Villa Seerose, the Berghalten daycare center and the ferry. The municipality justifies the investment because they are getting old and have some safety deficiencies.
These playgrounds will be renovated for a total of 580,000 francs. The municipality stated in a statement that the work was put out to tender and the offers received were compared. She awarded all orders to the company Kern Garten AG in Horgen.
Safety is no longer guaranteed
A shortcoming of today’s playground equipment is insufficient fall protection. The old design also does not comply with current safety regulations. In addition, the playgrounds should be made more attractive.

In addition, the playground near the ferry has “experienced significant wear and tear” over time and no longer meets legal requirements, as the statement states. To ensure safety, extensive renovation is necessary.
Mitte Horgen responded to the municipality’s announced investment in the playgrounds with a media release. The local party said it was “pleased to take note of this.” In this way, Horgen is meeting an important need for many families. The center would also like to see further playgrounds renovated and redesigned in the next few years.
