Fitness Trainers and Content Creators Sandy Gabriela Officiere and Danute Tamme Discuss Challenges of Raising a Child as a Same-Sex Couple on “Celebrities. No Filter”

Fitness trainers and content creators Sandy Gabriela Officiere and Danute Tamme, who exchanged rings this fall, are ready for their family to grow.

In the show “Celebrities. No filter” the ladies meet with “Mozaīkas” board member Jana Jarinovska to find out how easy or difficult it is to raise a child as a same-sex couple. During the conversation, it is revealed that not all same-sex couples with children are listed in Latvia, as they often appear as single parents in the data registers. Jana explains:

“According to all PMLP documents, Lilita is a single mother, she falls into these statistics. I was recently asked in a conversation if it is known how many same-sex couples there are in Latvia, and it is impossible to count it. Then, when the census was held, which was in 2021. year, there is no such section as a man with a man or a woman with a woman.”

The ladies also discussed the new partnership law, against which signatures are currently being actively collected, and they were most shocked by the rhetoric that is often used in discussions, highlighting them as bad parents. Jana had this to say about this:

“We are more wonderful, better parents than very many heterosexual parents!”
