A Spanish citizen living in New York shared on TikTok her astonishment at receiving a hospital bill after a medical visit, turning her experience into a financial drama. The video, which racked up more than half a million views and 14,000 likes, reveals the shocking sum of $1,355.11 for a series of seemingly routine medical procedures.
Two months ago, the woman was forced to go to hospital after suffering a blow to the head while trying to program the washing machine. In her video, she explained in detail her experience at the hospital, where they performed an electrocardiogram, urinalysis, and several questions to assess her mental status and coordination. Her surprise came when they gave her her bill, since according to her insurance, the co-pay for visiting the emergency room was $250.
“All this for having a urine test, an electro test, and someone asking me questions to see if my head was going well and I was coordinating,” the user expressed in the video, showing her disbelief at the high cost of the medical services received.
The situation became even more complicated, since the deadline for payment is January 11. The woman assured that she was in the process of dealing with her insurance to cover the costs. However, she seems frustrated when mentioning the difficulties she faced when completing the required forms: “I’m working on it, I have to fill it out with my information and it’s not easy because of the things they ask you. That’s what it cost me to hit my head when I went to put on a washing machine. “This is a drama and a mess,” she concluded.
