Ammann Roland Kuster: “Care for protection and warmth”

“We meet here in protection and warmth,” said Wettingen mayor Roland Kuster at the New Year’s aperitif in the auditorium of the Margeläcker school complex. «Protection and warmth are valuable goods that are not available to all people. I’m not thinking a priori about people in war zones, but also about people in our community. Let’s take care of protection and warmth.”
In a short tour d’horizon, Roland Kuster also addressed important upcoming tasks for the municipality of Wettingen in his speech. He mentioned the new building and usage regulations. “The participation process for the new BNO will start in the spring,” he explained. The local council has set itself the goal of having the residents’ council’s approval by the end of 2025 so that the planning work can be sent to “Aarau”. “A quarter of a century has passed since the last revision of the building and usage regulations,” says Roland Kuster. “An adjustment is necessary.”
The second important area of responsibility he mentioned was the educational offering, for which around 200 million francs are to be invested in school infrastructure over the next 20 years. “Our teachers deserve to be able to work with a good infrastructure,” he emphasized and announced that a loan for a study contract for a high school center would be submitted to the residents’ council this month.
The mayor was pleased with what he called the “epoch-making” approval of the voters for the 2024 budget, which was probably due to the fact that the tax rate could be kept at 95 percent. “But you probably won’t be able to avoid having to deal with the tax rate,” said Roland Kuster and thanked the trust placed in the local council and the administration – “also when dealing with the tax franc”.
