As the publication notes, the Japan Meteorological Agency counted more than 100 earthquakes with a magnitude of 2.9 to 7.6 on the island.
The vast majority of them occurred in the Noto area of Ishikawa, where the strongest earthquake struck this morning.
At the same time, other earthquakes were felt in different parts of Japan. This means that they are not all necessarily related.
As of now, it is known that at least four people have died as a result of the earthquakes. One of the dead was an elderly man on whom a building collapsed.
US President Joe Biden has already said that his country is ready to help those affected by the earthquake in Japan.
“As close allies, the United States and Japan share deep bonds of friendship that unite our peoples. Our thoughts are with the Japanese people at this difficult time,” he said.
